CORFU

What a week it was last week- returning to that beautiful green island, my home for the past eight years. I arrived in time to see the last of the fireflies, the last snow on the Albanian mountains, and the last pink Judas trees dotted across the green horizons.

It was magical to have a week to sing, to record many beautiful Leonard Cohen songs, to play several concerts, to connect with incredible musicians I love dearly- and then, in between the work, to catch up with almost everybody I’ve ever known in that extremely social and lovely village :)

ENFORCED REST

The time was magical, but of course far too full for any one person to sustain. I crashed around the fifth or sixth day and even moved my flights to give myself the longest break I’ve ever had from my kids (this aspect was a particularly lovely treat- one I thank my dear husband for from the bottom of my heart).

By the end of the week, things had reached a point where they simply had to slow down. So I rested more in the last days, took time just to lie in bed, listened to yoga nidra, and swam in the sparkling blue sea.

COMMUNITY HOME

And now I land gently back in my community- sunny skies, flowers everywhere, homemade scones with cream and jam. A hilarious maypole dance with seven children. Singing David Bowie in the kitchen with two of the women I live with- one playing flute, the other guitar- while I washed dishes.

I plug back into the magic of life here, feeling the golden light of Corfu and all the friends I love so much there still very much in my heart.

THE JOYS OF BEING A TOURIST

I Recall with much joy the dance on Sunday, the sea, the moon, the drives down very familiar windy roads, and all the incredible magic of that place… yet knowing very clearly that this community is the best place for my family, I feel in this moment very lucky for all that I have- and note just how lovely it was to be a tourist.

-Kerkyra my dear mermaid island, I will be back again later this year.

Life is unexpected, eh?

....I wonder what the next adventure has in store.

WEEKLY REFLECTIONS

Invitation: set a timer for a 3 mins (or more) and write or ponder:

1. Where in my life feels nourishing, and where might it be a little too full?

2. What people or places leave a golden light in me, and how can I carry that feeling with me?

3. What might I relax about right now, and what small adventure could I say yes to next?
